Churches, Liturgical objects and Church furniture Arjan Scheer is designer of liturgical furniture, church interiors, churches and meditations centers. The interest into church design started by experiencing the liturgy in the church from first hand as a member of a congregation and as a designer. During his studies at the Academy of Arts this interest lead to the definition of his final project: a liturgical centre as final project. Since then, Arjan Scheer is not only an able product designer when designing liturgical objects, he is also able to plan and built a complete church building through his architectural studies at the Architectural Association in London. Assisting the church congregation is central in the process of designing a church. The design of a church or liturgical centre is a task in which serving is central. The result has to comply completely to the characteristics and standards of the congregation that gathers in the church building. Arjan Scheer has a broad reference relating to the experience, meaning and role of a liturgy and liturgical space, through continuing research of and experience with the design of religious objects and building. This enables Arjan Scheer to give valuable advise to congregations. The mission of Arjan Scheer is to make spaces and objects that make people meet. Besides the design of a liturgical centre, Arjan Scheer has refurbished a series of churches, like for instance the Sionskerk in Zeist. For the Nieuwe Kerk in Zeist, Arjan Scheer has provided the drawings for the user permit. Currently, Arjan Scheer is working on the refurbishment of the church on the Kuiperstraat in Rotterdam, Delfshaven. Besides building or refurbishing a church, Arjan Scheer Architecture can build or redesign a manse or caretakers house. The office of Arjan Scheer has for instance worked on the refurbishment of an existing monumental caretakers house next to the Oude Kerk in Zeist into a Church Bureau. Also Arjan Scheer has been involved in the refurbishment of a manse to make it fit for a new pastor of a congregation. Arjan Scheer Architecture provides a Church Building Committee, one point of contact with a broad variety of expertise.
